Bowdoin Celebrates Yanowitz Retirement and Buckman Appointment as President
As we enter 2022 and transition to a new year, Bowdoin Construction celebrates the career of Irwin Yanowitz, one of its long-time leaders, as he retires as President of the firm. At the same time, we welcome the transition to another one of the firm’s long-time leaders, Andrew Buckman, as Bowdoin’s next President. Succession is an important part of every company’s growth, and we are excited for this next chapter as we enter Bowdoin’s 49th year building throughout New England.
Irwin Yanowitz began his career at Bowdoin in 1981, initially as a carpenter and then a field supervisor, progressing to project manager, then vice president of pre-construction, and onto his role for the past 8 years as president of the firm. Irwin’s experience, professionalism, and open-door mentoring style have been a great asset to the firm, and his steadfast leadership will carry on in his successor. Irwin will continue to consult with the firm in an advisory capacity, as he passes the baton to Andrew.
Andrew Buckman began his career at Bowdoin in 1993 as a co-op student at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Upon his graduation from Wentworth’s Construction Management program in 1994, Andrew joined the firm as an estimator, transitioning to project manager in 1996. He was promoted to director of construction in 2004, then to vice president of construction in 2016, and now onto his role as president of the firm. Andrew has worked across all of Bowdoin’s market sectors and has been instrumental in the firm’s reputation for customer service, quality, client retention and building lasting relationships with our customers and project partners.
Andrew will work closely with his partners, Chris Keeley, Executive Vice President of Client Development and Brendan Wall, Executive Vice President of Finance & CFO, as well as other company leaders including Rod Shaffert, Vice President of Bowdoin’s Worcester office, Eric Arthur, Chief Estimator, and Butch Magurn, Director of Construction, to ensure a clear path and bright future for Bowdoin.
Bowdoin is proud to be entering its 49th year in business, providing award winning construction management, general contracting, and design build services throughout New England. The firm completes projects of substantial size across five primary markets including Academic/Cultural, Corporate/Industrial/Lab, Medical/Healthcare, Residential/Hospitality, and Retail/Restaurant developments.
